Mariah's new single!

Just finished listenin and downloadin Mariah's first single
"Obsessed" from her forthcoming cd "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel".
What a lame ass boring song! Same auto tune crap that hip hop rappers keep churning out yearly. Her track "Migrate" from E=MC2 is much better than this single. I miss the old Mariah really. Give me Emotions or Dreamlover anyday than this laughable single!

Day N' Nite

Rapper Kanye West latest protege Kid Cudi has just released the single "Day N' Nite".
I like the unique sound of the song which is far more better than the mainstream rap I used to hear lately. It is sonically left field and intoxicatingly cool. So its no mystery why Kanye West collaborated with this new sensation in his last year's cd. I super love this song as in!

Can't stop Rihanna!

Hmmm... Im having Rihanna moments since yesterday! Can't stop playing songs from her 2007's "Good Girl Gone Bad"album. Its the most "single churning album" since Janet Jackson's Rhythm nation way back in 1989.

According to her camp, "Breaking Dishes" will be release as the 9th single. Oh my! Give this album a break! it's time to release a new one!

Fave singles: Take a Bow, Hate That I Love You, Please Don't Stop the Music, Umbrella

Bad news from Justin Timberlake

Justin tells EW that he’s “not working” on new music right now. The singer has been hitting the studio lately, but only to produce tracks for other artists, like T.I. (“Dead and Gone") and Ciara (“Love Sex Magic”). “Right now, I like the idea that things can just kind of pop up and if they feel right I can do them,” says Timberlake.
Sad news indeed! Hu hu hu..... Im a certified JT fanatic since "Justified" was released seven years ago. There's a gap of four years between the aforementioned first cd and the release of his sophomore cd: Futuresexlovesounds back in 2006. So if he will follow the pattern, ill be definitely waiting for another year or two before finally hearing a new record from the Prince of Pop! WTF!
fave JT singles: Like I Love You, Cry Me A River, My Love, What Goes Around

King of Pop

I was once a Michael Jackson mega fanatic from 1983 to 1997, but after his HiStory World Tour '96 set foot in Manila, I was kinda stop following him. Not that I hate him because of the controversies surrounded this talented man. Let just say it was just a MJ fatigue coz I was constanly playing all his songs, watching his vids, buying anything about him, tried to look paler and paler ever throughout the HiStory era (1995-1997). As far as I can remember I was so obsessed with him to actually name my newly purchased japanese spitz pup to "Jackson" back then. I was just Im kinda sick of hearing his songs anymore and Madonna returns with a bang in early 1998 with Ray of Light. So he was definitely overshadowend by my Queen of Pop. By the way my site title "Behind the Pale" was actually inspired by the King of Pop.

Since he is making a comeback later this year, Im just paying him a little tribute for once being a big part of my life.

Fave singles:

1. Off the wall
2. Blame it on the boogie
3. Rock your body
4. Wanna be starting something
5. Man in the mirror

Sea Change

Sea Change is an album by Beck, released in 2002. So different from his previous quirky, fun and silly records. The concept of this album is inspired by the dissolution of his relationship with his long time girlfriend. He bares all his soul on this brilliant album.
One of my faves of all time and the best break up album I've ever heard. To describe Sea Change, its the most depressingly beautiful, melancholic and heartbreakingly simple. You can hear the singers sadness and pain in every words of the lyrics. I fell in love with the cd's gorgeous songs: Lonesome Tears, Guess Im Doin Fine and Lost Cause. This is Beck's masterpiece.
In addition, I am really captivated everytime I watch the creepily simple, haunting, heart wrenching video for "Lonesome Tears".

New Madonna Greatest Hits CD!

The final Madonna album under her Warner Records contract will be out this fall and will include new songs, her longtime publicist told People magazine. "Madonna does have plans to go into the studio to record a few new songs for this album,'We're hoping to have a greatest hits package come out in September. We're all very excited about it." The new Greatest Hits, which follows "The Immaculate Collection", the ballad compilation "Something to Remember" and "GHV2", will be Madonna's last release with Warner Bros, the label with whom the Queen of Pop sold more than 200 million albums in a 27-year relationship before signing her new deal with Live Nation. Here's my own ideal track list:

Career spanning collection
(2 greatest hits cd, 2 dvd video compilation)

Disc 1:

1. Holiday
2. Borderline
3. Like a virgin
4. Material Girl
5. Crazy for you
6. Into the groove
7. Live to tell
8. Papa dont preach
9. Open your heart
10. La isla Bonita
11. Who's that girl
12. Like a prayer
13. Express yourself
14. Vogue
15. Justify my love

Disc 2

1. Erotica
2. Secret
3. take a bow
4. Frozen
5. Ray of light
6. Beautiful stranger
7. Music
8. Dont tell me
9. Die another day
10. American life
11. Hung up
12. Sorry
13. 4 minutes
14. Give it to me
15. new song
16. new song

But since Madonna is more into moving forward and care less on her ancient past, we might get just a single disc with the hits from her last 3 albums (2002-2008):

1. Die another day
2. American Life
3. Hollywood
4. Love Profusion
5. Nothing fails
6. Nobody knows me
7. Hung up
8. Sorry
9. Get together
10. Jump
11. 4 minutes
12. Give it to me
13. Miles away
14. new song
15. new song

Give It 2 Me

Madonna's overlooked "perfect pop" gem.

Give it to me is one of Madonna's greatest singles ever. Fact.
It is funky, poppy dance tune with a hip hop vibe. The song can be mistaken as a song from her early years but with a modern twist. It is oozing with hyper energy, fun and hysterical at the same time. The awesome bassline and synth coupled by a simple catchy chorus will make you yearn to boogy on the dancefloor. Like the other tracks from her Hard Candy cd, this song also boasts a lot of creative surprises throughout the whole song. Most especially the last part when the rave sounds slowly seeping and the beats getting faster and faster. OMG that is so fucking insane! Madonna with the help of the ever diversely genius,Pharrell Williams, they both concocted their best product in years.

In my opinion Give it 2 me had a great chance of success if only Madonna and Warner Bros. promoted it very well last year. The song has a hit written all over it i must say. Very anthemic and geared to be a classic Madonna song. It is on par with songs like Holiday, Music and Hung up. The combination of Pharrell and a great Madonna track equals gargantuan sizable hit. But, alas, the single went nowhere after Mads & Co. abadoned the project to make it in its own. It's just like her other past flop second singles (hollywood, sorry) since American Life again. The lack of radio airplay and a fucked up video were the final nails of the coffin. I just realize maybe they should had choose Give it 2 me as the lead of single off Hard Candy instead of the mega hit 4minutes. They should push thru their original plan of releasing it first. If ever it happened the video could have the edgy boxing theme like the publicity shots of the Hard Candy era. The video could have been the concept of the die another day interlude in Sticky and sweet tour. If ever we could have got another classic, talk about, thematic fantastic video again from Madonna. If it could be marketed well, the result could have been another big worldwide hit for Mads, because it will surely appeal to all kinds of people. And will not alienate some fans like the lukewarm response the almost hip hop song 4 minutes got. If the latter released as a second single it could not have a problem in being a hit because it has its own legs unlike give it 2 me. Because 4 minutes had already has the combination of Justin and Timbaland. And it has the most mainstream sounding song of Madonna in almost a decade. Madonna could have two big hits in a row in one album. The only last time this happens was during the Music era with "Music" and "Dont Tell Me" as back to back hits.

Oh, may I add whenever I played this song on my house, car or on the gym, people immediately asks me for the title of the song. True, they love it and cant stop singing the chorus after. So Give it 2 me can really grab instantly your attention and captivates the listener with a maximum effect. Its is so sad local radio stations didnt give it a chance it greatly deserves.

YO!

Several months after he was diagnosed with leukemia, the 44 year old King of Rap Francis Magalona died yesterday. He was brought to Medical City Hospital last March 3 due to sepsis or severe bacterial infection of the body.

This is a great tragedy not only to his family but for the whole music industry itself. He pioneered rap in the local music scene at the start of the 90's with serious commentary on pinoy life and culture. Did you know that his first album "Yo!" was my first ever cassette purchase when I was just a kid way back in 1990? I was so completely hooked by his hit singles "Mga Kababayan", "Gotta let you Know" and "Cold Summer Nights". Francis M., was my first ever idol during an identity crisis period of my life and before I encountered the ever great diva Madonna. I was just on my first phase of my hip hop era which spans for an unforgettable exciting 4 years of my youth. He was a great influence on my life that pave way on my love for dance and music. Now he is gone. For the first time, I really cried with the news of the death of a celebrity. A great loss in the music world indeed. He left a large vacuum that cannot be filled for decades to come. He was the only best pinoy rapper of all time.

Michael Jackson's comeback!

Michael Jackson is expected to announce a series of summer comeback concerts at the O2 arena in London. The pop legend is due to appear at the venue to make to a "special announcement". It follows months of speculation about a string of money-spinning shows. He last toured 12 years ago.

The O2, in Greenwich, south-east London, is the venue where Prince played for 21 nights in 2007, and where Britney Spears is performing for eight nights in June. Jackson would be likely to follow a similar pattern of a run of gigs at one venue, rather than an extensive tour. At Thursday's press conference, he will hope to convince fans he is fit enough to perform a number of full shows.
