The Ruins

Since The Ruins has been much praised by the king of horror, Stephen King and included in Entertainment Weekly's list of best books in 2007, I didn't hesitate to buy this book immediately.
Alas! Another worst book I've ever read. I really have no idea why the critics find this the best horror book. This was the book that I skipped some pages to finally reach the end to find out what happened and to stop the excruciating boredom I already suffered.
Lesson: Not to immediately jump on the bandwagon of some critics positive pronouncements. Very traumatic experience.... Waste of money!!

The Establishment

Trendspotting

A new hot night spot called "The Establishment" opens at The Fort. The idea behind this bar/resto is non other than Inquirer's Lifestyle columnist and Philippine editor in chief, Anton San Diego.

Duty Free Scandal

A soundless video clip showing fashion designer Boyet Fajardo has lately making rounds on the web. He was shown berating a hapless Duty Free Philippines cashier before making him kneel before him. The cashier's sin: he refused to honor Fajardo's credit card until he could compare the designer's signature with other form of identification. Unable to produce the requiered documents an exasperated Fajardo, who'd just flown in from Shanghai business trip, asked to talk to the cashier's superiors. When the matter was finally settled, Fajardo was asked how DFP could make amends. The designer, pointing to the cashier, reportedly asked him to kneel before him. Rather than protest, the cashier did as he was told.

Pathetic! Who is this fucking Boyet Fajardo???? Never heard in my entire gay life! a not famous designer power playing??? Feeling??? LOL !!! Humiliating anybody is a no no! Boycott all his products noh!!!

Watchmen

Watchmen is a film adapted from a superhero comic book and directed by Zack Snyder (300)
Before seeing Watchmen I really had no any idea about this film.
I find the exposition very long and sleep inducing, still I manage to stay awake on the duration of the whole movie. In fairness, the movie has a good and interesting premise. But too complicated for an average moviegoer who is expecting big bang superhero films like Iron Man or Fantastic Four.
Can't give a good sensible review coz im still sleepy from watching it.

Razon's Halo Halo

Simply Irresistible!

Razon's halo halo was first introduced to me by my good ol frien, Paul way back in 2005 through his word of mouth promotions. Before it became uber famous, I still remember we visited their crowded humble branch in Market Market food court. After my initial taste of this mouth watering, heat quencher, sweet concoction my taste buds were never the same again. Since then I could never stop my craving for this infamous halo halo from Guagua, Pampanga. Razon's halo halo is just so simple unlike the usual thing with tons of over the top ingredients you find in other restos or street corners. The ingredents of Razons includes just a mix of saging na saba, macapuno, leche flan, carabao's milk and a soft "melt in your mouth" crashed ice. That's it! The overall sweetness of the halo halo is not so overpowering. Very addicting especially this hot season.

Hmm... I should set a merienda date with my lovey dovey soon.

boy toys

I dont believe in love...
boys are just sex machines
they are all fucking the same

I dont deserve to be the second best
I DESERVE THE BEST IN LIFE

Doubt

Set in a city catholic school during the early 60's, the film revolves around the clash between the traditional, strict principal Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep) and open minded parish priest Father Flynn (Philip Seymour Hoffman). The culmination of the Sister's animosity to the priest was raised more when a young naive Sister James (Amy Adams) became suspicious of the priests closeness to a certain black student. Half of the film shows her non stop quest for the truth, wherein she believes the priest really had some sexually advances with the boy.

In totality im not at all that impress by the film. It was interesting but that not emotionally involving. Doubt was just salvage by the brilliant notable performances of the actors and actresses. As usual Streep gave another electrifying convincing part for the role. She was really into the character of the iron fisted sister. Amy Adams did a revealing performance that made her transition from just a so so star to a serious actress . A great potential to get more future meaty roles. Viola Davis brief oscar nominated role, I thought at first was dramatically tad overrated, but I was taken aback by her moving performance. It was really understated, quiet and nuanced which really outshines Streep in that important particular scene.

New Madonna Greatest Hits CD!

The final Madonna album under her Warner Records contract will be out this fall and will include new songs, her longtime publicist told People magazine. "Madonna does have plans to go into the studio to record a few new songs for this album,'We're hoping to have a greatest hits package come out in September. We're all very excited about it." The new Greatest Hits, which follows "The Immaculate Collection", the ballad compilation "Something to Remember" and "GHV2", will be Madonna's last release with Warner Bros, the label with whom the Queen of Pop sold more than 200 million albums in a 27-year relationship before signing her new deal with Live Nation. Here's my own ideal track list:

Career spanning collection
(2 greatest hits cd, 2 dvd video compilation)

Disc 1:

1. Holiday
2. Borderline
3. Like a virgin
4. Material Girl
5. Crazy for you
6. Into the groove
7. Live to tell
8. Papa dont preach
9. Open your heart
10. La isla Bonita
11. Who's that girl
12. Like a prayer
13. Express yourself
14. Vogue
15. Justify my love

Disc 2

1. Erotica
2. Secret
3. take a bow
4. Frozen
5. Ray of light
6. Beautiful stranger
7. Music
8. Dont tell me
9. Die another day
10. American life
11. Hung up
12. Sorry
13. 4 minutes
14. Give it to me
15. new song
16. new song

But since Madonna is more into moving forward and care less on her ancient past, we might get just a single disc with the hits from her last 3 albums (2002-2008):

1. Die another day
2. American Life
3. Hollywood
4. Love Profusion
5. Nothing fails
6. Nobody knows me
7. Hung up
8. Sorry
9. Get together
10. Jump
11. 4 minutes
12. Give it to me
13. Miles away
14. new song
15. new song

Give It 2 Me

Madonna's overlooked "perfect pop" gem.

Give it to me is one of Madonna's greatest singles ever. Fact.
It is funky, poppy dance tune with a hip hop vibe. The song can be mistaken as a song from her early years but with a modern twist. It is oozing with hyper energy, fun and hysterical at the same time. The awesome bassline and synth coupled by a simple catchy chorus will make you yearn to boogy on the dancefloor. Like the other tracks from her Hard Candy cd, this song also boasts a lot of creative surprises throughout the whole song. Most especially the last part when the rave sounds slowly seeping and the beats getting faster and faster. OMG that is so fucking insane! Madonna with the help of the ever diversely genius,Pharrell Williams, they both concocted their best product in years.

In my opinion Give it 2 me had a great chance of success if only Madonna and Warner Bros. promoted it very well last year. The song has a hit written all over it i must say. Very anthemic and geared to be a classic Madonna song. It is on par with songs like Holiday, Music and Hung up. The combination of Pharrell and a great Madonna track equals gargantuan sizable hit. But, alas, the single went nowhere after Mads & Co. abadoned the project to make it in its own. It's just like her other past flop second singles (hollywood, sorry) since American Life again. The lack of radio airplay and a fucked up video were the final nails of the coffin. I just realize maybe they should had choose Give it 2 me as the lead of single off Hard Candy instead of the mega hit 4minutes. They should push thru their original plan of releasing it first. If ever it happened the video could have the edgy boxing theme like the publicity shots of the Hard Candy era. The video could have been the concept of the die another day interlude in Sticky and sweet tour. If ever we could have got another classic, talk about, thematic fantastic video again from Madonna. If it could be marketed well, the result could have been another big worldwide hit for Mads, because it will surely appeal to all kinds of people. And will not alienate some fans like the lukewarm response the almost hip hop song 4 minutes got. If the latter released as a second single it could not have a problem in being a hit because it has its own legs unlike give it 2 me. Because 4 minutes had already has the combination of Justin and Timbaland. And it has the most mainstream sounding song of Madonna in almost a decade. Madonna could have two big hits in a row in one album. The only last time this happens was during the Music era with "Music" and "Dont Tell Me" as back to back hits.

Oh, may I add whenever I played this song on my house, car or on the gym, people immediately asks me for the title of the song. True, they love it and cant stop singing the chorus after. So Give it 2 me can really grab instantly your attention and captivates the listener with a maximum effect. Its is so sad local radio stations didnt give it a chance it greatly deserves.

I just realize....

I LOVE YOU!!!

JASON FOREVER!!!!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Since I'm having some love troubles lately, I had the urge last night to pop up again my DVD copy of this great seminal 2004 movie for the fourth time. The film still greatly affected me and put me in bucket of tears every time I watched it. It is still one of my top 10 films of all time. To me its one of the greatest and powerful love story in the history of modern cinema. This all can be attributed to the direction by the superbly talented Michael Gondry (Bjork, Radiohead vids) whose top notch work in this film complemented the mind boggling story of the ever creative Charlie Kauffman. The latter is also responsible for the genius behind the 1999 film, Being John Malkovich.

The film deals with a failed relationship of two people, Joel (Jim Carrey) and Clementine (Kate Winslet) and their quest to erase the memories of their roller coaster unforgettable love affair. Both of them hires the services of Dr. Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson) who has the capability of deleting all the memories of past relationships. During Joel's memory elimination, he journeyed back to all the moments he shared with Clementine. But in the process he consciously becomes aware of what's happening and tried to stop it, because he wants to preserve the good moments they had before losing it forever.

I love this film not only because it tackles about the importance of love but also the unique presentation of the film. I really have a thing for movies which has a particular surreal feeling. Case in point is my two of my all time fave films, 8 1/2 and Wild Strawberries. In this film, the camera tricks are just creatively simple and yet so engaging. Some of the scenes has strange and dreamlike quality. The cinematography is elaborately unusual with some hazy shots to enhance more of the films poignancy. The execution of the film captured perfectly the feel when a person is in a state of dreaming.

Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind touches my heart and soul like no other film ever. Every time I watch it , I always think of my current "love of my life" to learn to appreciate him more and not to take him for granted. I always start to try to inculcate in my mind that ill never know how truly great a person is until he's gone in my life. Memories of failed relationships, even though good or bad is still integral part of the maturity of a person in dealing with love. Experiencing the moments is important enough but being in that moment is already a keeper. This should be treasured forever both by the persons involved. In relationships, even you mightily try to completely blank out your mind with all the memories of the person, the machinery of your heart still remains and has the power to dictate that the person is your true love or to continue or not no matter what. My fave review quote the one I read somewhere in Entertainment Weekly magazine "Watching ''Eternal Sunshine,'' you don't just watch a love story -- you fall in love with what really love is"

Happiness is not for me...

Ruffa, Shawie and I met Madam last night at Dencios, Jupiter to have some stress reducing girl talk. Fresh from her trip to Singapore, Madam gave us some little souvenirs. As usual we had some great updates on the recent happenings of our COLORful fab lives. The biggest shock of the evening was the obvious 360 degrees turn of a very optimistic Shawie back to her alter ego cynical Miranda mode(sex and the city) in terms of love. Unusual for the girl that sometime last year, she was one of my hopeful and yearning for love girl friend. But then I already observed her change of face for the past few weeks that we two bonded together. My suspicion proved to be true because last night, she revealed that her love of life Mr. A, recently tied a knot with his longtime girlfriend. So I greatly understand what Shawie is really having right now.

Anyway, I also shared to them my recent dilemma in regards to my recent love life. Dont get me wrong I really love to hear their frank, objective, balance opinions to keep me grounded. Sometimes what they say are very hurtful but I always know that the truth is always painful. But I still listened to them with my open hearts forever. Yet, still Im the captain of my own ship. So anything they say sometimes doesnt matter when I started to fall in love. As a matter of fact Im a hard headed and super very weak person in this area of life. You know sometimes I just want to keep to myself the joy of being in love. I sometimes feel the urge not to share my feelings anymore to my friends. It sometimes enters my mind that I dont know if they really understand anymore what I feel. Because most of them really fall out of love already and they are all cynical persons now. Honestly, Im the one who always tried to link them to some guys in the past, because Im very hopeful that the time will come they would find their true match and to see all of us with our special someone. I really treasure them as my friends, no doubt about it. They are the ones who's always there during my depression and joyful eras. But sometimes I still wonder or I seem to think that when it comes to my wonderful relationships they are not that appreaciative even though I know deep in my heart that those affairs are successful. Forgive me readers if im not makin sense anymore. My state of mind right now is confused and blurred by recent turn of events these past few weeks. I just want to get this thing off of my chest.

One thing I can proudly say today that somehow Im very glad that in my life I tried to give relationships with men a try. The simple fact of experiencing what it feels to like or to be with a guy is a great joy enough. What more is that Im really blessed with the experience of having fantastic relationships with genuinely nice but not so perfect ideal guys in my lifetime. The experience of somebody really appreciating me (minus the material things) with all their mighty good intent efforts are just a special bonus and great enough to live comfortably happy for the rest of my life and see the world in a different positive perspetive.

Cheaters are the way to go
I learned something new
I dont know what to think
I dont know what to do
I still want you

Hurting me again
But cant say goodbye
I dont want to get hurt
I want to know the truth

I can't take anymore your denials
I can't stand the pain your putting me through
I dont know if theres still a need to pursue?

I dont want to stop
I dont know what to believe
I dont know what to say
I dont know if I love you

Press and hold the center button of the "remote" to activate "voice over". To jump to different playlists, keep on holding until you hear a blip. Release and voice over will go through your playlists. If you find the playlist you want, click again to select it.

Nice and tempting! Like to buy this one for my lovey Jason. But Im having second thoughts after he misplaced my shuffle valentine gift to him last year. Hmmm...

Time Stood Still

Despair, regret, and tenderness
Is what I feel for you
I loved you from the very start
What else could I do
You read my mind, you made me cry

Time stood still
And now I know the reasons why
Time stood still
Maybe you're the next best thing to happen
All the things we might have been
A flame becomes a fading light
That burns inside my heart
And like a castle in the sand
It had to fall apart
You made me laugh, you gave me hope
It's over now
Our happiness went up in smoke
It's over now

Queer Summer Specials part 1

Here comes summer again my friends! The most awaited season of the year for flirty gals like us. Another exciting and unexpected escapades awaits our fab group this summer. Like any past out of town specials, every year we definitely witnessed a unique and unforgettable experience to each one of the girls. Now on the10th year of enduring difficulties in getting the divas together in one summer special is a feat by a genius work of God. So now just sit back and relax coz Ill pay tribute to my fave Queer Summer Specials of All Time:

1. WET AND WILD

WHITE COVE (Batangas, May 2003) definitely my number one on the list. Eventhough we're not all present here (Ruffa's non appearance), this special was really so close to my heart ever. All the ingredients of an exciting, unforgettable, perfect outing that comes to mind were all included here. Well the real original plan was that Im just going all alone on this trip. A sort of one of my impulse crazy soul searching idea back in those days. I was so heartbroken by a guy from my neighborhood so I decided to borrow the unit of my cousin in the exclusive resort in Batangas. But I haven't really decided if Im going to push through my plan. So the night before the big day I met my girl friends, Shawi and Madam in Powerplant, Rockwell to tell them my idea. By the way we played bowling for the first time that night. Anyway, as usual the two girlash asked if they could join me. With all the drama, I told them that I want to be really alone and besides Im still undecided that moment. As my fickle mind goes, the day after around afternoon I made the decision to go to White Cove with my girl friends. I was thinking ill be much more depress if I just go alone. As cliche as it may sound, the rest is history. The highlights:

Mushroom Burger We're so hungry during the travel so we were looking for an affordable and good place to eat. Judy suggested Mushroom Burger, the ever famous 80's burger stop in Tagaytay. Since we were all very hungry and haven't tasted their meals since birth, we all agreed to give it a try. Well, when you are with your "Barkadas" you really can't avoid the urge to joke around. Right? Unfortunately, something happened that time which make this trip a monumental event. While eating we all tease Judy that the food was not good and pricey for an unsatisfactory meal. In fairness its good naman! After we all finished eating we decided to leave immediately because its getting dark already. When we were all inside the car, Beauty, the best jester of our group, talked non stop about the food experience until we reached our destination in the evening. What we didn't know beyond the smiles of the ever sensitive Ms. Judy there's a boiling lava lurking inside her already waiting to explode. The second day of this trip Ms. Judy spewed all the venom she was keeping since day one. Because that 2nd day we were all (most especially Beauty) still teasing her about the food, the choice of men she brought into our lair (this is another story) and she was already so pressured to have sex that night. Mix emotions equals big explosion for our girl. Judy unleashed the most shocking shout out that night or in the history of our gay friendship: " Ano ba problema mo?! Magkano ba yang kinain mo?! Babayaran ko!" this was all directed to Beauty, one of the famous quotes of the decade db?!

STORM SIGNAL # 2 An unfortunate event hovers around this fantastic trip from the beginning. A curse from Ruffa perhaps? What we didn't know or learned only on our way to Batangas that there was already a storm brewing outside the Philippine shore. When we were still in Manila that afternoon the sky was still clear and sunny. But when we got to Sta. Rosa, the weather was not cooperating anymore with our simple plan. This trip was actually to end the summer with a full blast. But what happend really was a surprise get together to welcome the rainy season. A symbolic event to wash away the several months of my depression and to be baptize to start a new life ahead. The truth is I love more the rainy season than the dry months of our country. Personally, Im more into wet and cold months cause i dont like to be sweaty and the humid stuff really irritates me. I fell in love with the countryside more during our stay in Batangas. The sweet smell of the grass and rain were so endearing. This vacation was really a refreshing take from the busy and chaotic world of the city. I realize that the storm which entered the country that time was not an unfortunate event though. It was more of a blessing in disguise for our fab group. An added spice for our "history in the making" vacation. Did you know that the plan was just an overnight stay but we extended this trip for one more day because of the strong and heavy rain in Batangas? This was the first time since our friendship started way back in 1993, that we were together in one roof for 3 straight days. To think the five of us together minus Ruffa in seclusion were all mind boggling enough. Yes, its very reality show I must say. Spearheading PBB several years before the actual Big Brother hit our country. Youll be able to say all hell broke loose if you care to imagine the situation. The diva in all of us fantastically remained intact. But the truth was we really really bonded well over our stay in the condo unit of the exclusive White Cove Resort. This was the time that we learned more of each others personality and attitude. We only ate, play cards, sex with lots of guys, sleep forever, picture taking, talk endlessly about anything, tease and laugh around for the whole fucking three days. And another memorable thing I remember was the part when we played volleyball in the morning amid the heavy rain. . There was a net in the middle of the white sands of the beach so we got the idea of improvisinsg one of our shirt as a ball to toss it around. We really had a blast doing it. We laugh so much for the whole time which took away all our energy to continue playing. All my problems and stress disappeared on that single happy moment.

THE GHOSTIn addition, a "barkada vacation" will not be complete without the scary thingy part. For the first time we encountered an out of this world phenomenon. It was raining heavily so we just stayed all on the room for the whole day. That night Shawie, Madam and Beauty played "tong its" non stop. Since Judy and I had nothing better to do we decided to go out to buy some stuff and hunt for local community boys at the town plaza. By the way the only people in the resort were the three ever dependable security guards and there were no other guests in other units besides us, because that weekend was already the last days of the month. Anyway we just bought some food and didnt find any appealing guys that suits our taste. So when we got back to our room the three girlash were so silent. They didnt even paid attention to the arrival of two sexy stars. At first I thought they just concetrating in their card games. So I asked them if there is there something wrong. They just said that a blackout occured awhile ago before we both arrive. Then I joked that " Buti walang multo na nagpakita? Eh balita ko me white lady daw sa isa sa mga units dito eh."The reaction I only got from the three was just a force smile and they just look in each others eyes like there's something fishy going on. And I asked them what's with the smile? Madam or Shawie told me that during the blackout they heard a scream and cry of a woman. I just laughed at them because I knew the'yre just joking cause they know that it'll scare the hell out of me. Moments later when they were done playing, While Im already brushing my teeth in the bathroom, I experienced the most spine chilling moment of my entire life. I heard the cry of the woman they're talking about awhile ago. All the hairs on my skin stands at that moment. Guess what I did? I run as fast as I could and energetically jump on the bed. I was so scared honestly. Never been that scared in my whole life. I was really sweating profusely. They all laugh at me heartily. I asked them if I could sleep in the middle of the bed cause I was so frightened. It entered my mind that maybe they just made the sound. Then it happened again. It was coming outside of the room. I search all their faces for a hint of a joke. But no one in our group really made that creepy cry. Beauty the ever strong person in the group assured us that its not a ghost but just a wind. But I know the difference between the sound of the wind and a wail of a suffering person. Maybe she just said that so we'll not be all frightened. I didnt take a bath that night or even go to the bathroom to take a pee. I just waited for the morning to come. I just slept between my friends covering my whole body with a blanket and pillows. Who cares if I cant breath and sweat heavily!

THE LOCALS . I remember there was a funny moment happened on our stop in Tagaytay. We drop by in a small town grocery store to grab some snacks for the rest of the trip. There were no other customers around except the five of us. The only other people inside the store was a girl cashier and a stockman. With my always ready quick radar eyes, I immediately notice the cutie staff. He's really a hunky guy to drool for! I told my sistahs to check him out. We were all flirting and smiling to the guy while getting chips and stuff. I instantly got an idea to invite him to join us in White Cove. But I honestly have no guts to speak to him directly. So I just stayed in the area where he was working, pretending to be browsing on the shelves. In fairness, he's smiling also and making pa cute noh! The girls called my attention from the cashier counter that they were all done and ready to pay. They said that we should go cause its already getting dark and windy outside. When I got to the counter, I still making "kulit" them to invite the guy or just asked the girl in the cashier the name of the cutie guy. So Madam, the all time "numbers girl", bravely asked the pretty girl the name of the stockman. She said the name of the guy (forgot it) and lo and behold, she added with a worried smile that he is her boyfriend. Our jaws all drop hearing that proclamation. Speechless, shocked and embarrased, we hurriedly paid our purchases and immediately headed for the door without looking back to the girl. When we got to the car we were all laughing hard by that encounter. Ha ha ha ha!

Anyway, I think the trip was also transition period from the "super wild, anything goes flirty gals of summer" to " flirty sophisticated, yearning, choosy matured adult women of summer". I think this was the official last wild era of my fab group. To explain this is another story. Anyway, I will not give too much details about our wild sexcapade here. Let just say that we met 2 batch of provincial guys on our three day stay in Batangas that we brought on our unit. We pick them up while we were having some joy ride around the the town. The guys range from barda hunk to cutie teenagers. Ha ha ha!!!! Then we also met some cutie OJT personnel in the resort. We were invited to watch their basketball game in the gym plaza but nothing sexual happened. Yes its true that we all had wild sessions for two nights. We did threesome, sharing, orgy, solo, kfc, romance, voyeurism (u name it) in the bed, sofa, bathroom etc. All I can say its one of the wildest sex in our history of gay friendship. I can assure you that all the girlish were satisfied by the turn of events. Amid the rain pouring outside, a different kind of rain happened in the quiet room of White Cove.

PICTORIALS The only thing that was not a plus on this trip was the pictorial part. First of all White Cove is a nice place for picture taking. It has white sand, clear waters and picturesque palm trees scattered around the area. Since it was raining heavily the background setting of the place was not ideal that time. But this trip was the start of the heavy concept pictorials that youll witness for the next summer vacations later. It was also the beginning of my appreciation of taking my own photos and learned how to project well on the camera without looking slutty and tart. On this trip alone we had produced one the best photos of our friendship ever. If you happened to browse the pics of that time you will clearly see that our look was also changing again for the better. We were all growing maturely beautiful I must say. At the end, It was revealed that there were lots of organized, funny, happy moment, sexy shots captured on this one lovingly unforgettable vacation.

The ickiest showbiz scandal in recent memory made a splash on last week's tv entertainment programs. The yucky news I am referring to non other than the publicity kissing scene of the ever in the closet gay Raymond Gutierrez and Carla Humphries on an outdoor party at Camarines Sur. WTF???! Ewwww!

Chris Brown's Take u Down

Hot performance! Wetty! Wetty! He he he!!!

two is the new one

Love is not a crime
But can you love two at a time?
I love you but my heart yearns for another
Lets end this now all together
It doesn't mean I love you less
But I dont want it to supress
Holding both of you in my bleeding hands
Do you know where my dignity still stands?
Not an affection for the new one
searching for the missing from another one
feelings hurt, its so unfair
Do you just think we still care?
Im getting lonely as time passes
like a scarecrow standing on the grasses
somebody should let go
Let's wait for the wind to blow
see me laying down the floor
cant play this game anymore

M.
wow ang hirap talaga!

1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die

One of my fave books in my collection! Definitely an essential reading for film buffs.
Each movie is accompanied by a brief sypnosis and pictures. The book includes films from 1902's "A trip to the moon" to 2005's "Brokeback Mountain".
