The Bad Girl by Mario Vargas Llosa
The story, revolves around the on again, off again relationship of two Peruvians living mostly in Europe in the latter half of the Twentieth Century. The "bad girl" refers to the protagonist named Lily who changes her personal appearance, style, and language to fit each role she assumes. Her chameleon like persona is also a heartless carnivore, a snake readily shedding its skin for a new life and a shark devouring its prey and intent on its next target. Her goals are simple - money and power.
