'Art House God"
Ingmar Bergman, one of the greatest and influential filmmakers of all time in the history of cinema. One of the true pillars of art films that redefined the movie world. Average viewers will find his films slow and complex. But beyond all these intricacy, his films were truly engaging and masterfully done. His works will be remembered clearly by his distinct stamp in direction like the gothic atmosphere, metaphysical questionings, exploration of the human psyche and familial conflicts. All these were memorably acted by great actors and actresses. I remember my first encounter with his works eight years ago was very timely due to my own battles with faith. A crisis with my own religion which paved the way to explore more and understand the works of this film master. A profound part of my life that I won't forget forever.
Recommended films: Wild Strawberries, Persona, The Seventh Seal, Cries and Whispers, Fanny and Alexander, The silence
